Welcome to Wine With Bruce, I’m your host – Bruce Hollingdrake.

If I may, let me share a few words about the site. The genesis came partly due to a faulty memory and a difficulty in finding reviews that I could understand. Often I would find myself at the wine shop standing in front of a bottle that I know I had before and not remembering if it was wonderful or if it was plonk. I also found that the memories of the few bottles that I gave a quick review for on another website were crystal clear. The act of jotting a few words down seemed to help capture the memory. So, I figured that If I’m going to record my experiences (in my own simple format), I may as well share them.

I am new to the world of wine, a novice – untrained and inexperienced. But I love wine, love the subtleties and complexities and hope to gain knowledge while sharing my experiences with you. Some of my recent experiences of searching for concise wine reviews was another catalyst for starting Wine With Bruce. Recently I came upon a few reviews that were so full of adjectives and descriptions that they failed to get to the point – should I buy it or not? I will tell you flat out – buy this for a daily drink, buy it for a special occasion or skip it altogether. Details of my simple ranking system are found here.

As wine is but one part of a full life, and I don’t want to start a new website for each of my passions – I’ll be peppering the site with other things I enjoy. Videos, photographs (I’ll try to snap an image of each bottle I try), travel suggestions as well as good reads found on other wine sites. I’ll also be very happy to include reviews submitted by you (please use my simple 4 star scoring system).

As I have fair amount of experience building websites, even some that are fairly popular, I’ll also dedicate a bit of the site to helping those of you that may be interested in starting up your own blog.
